Photography Portfolio: Plants and Flowers

I would be hard-pressed to find someone who paints a better canvas than Mother Nature, and she seems to really shine in the spring, summer and fall. There is just something about a brilliant landscape that I cannot help but capture.

To get this shot, I stood inside a lilac bush and shot up. Lilacs are one of my favorite flowers, and the house I grew up in had two massive bushes on the property. Each spring, we'd open the windows to catch their scent. It was lovely.

Sick of seeing this image yet? I've shared it half a dozen times, with each one affecting me different than the last. The brilliant colors of these tulips created quite the contract against the architectural marvels of downtown Chicago.

I love that you can see the remaining raindrops after a summer storm.

The Falls at Minnehaha ...

I admire the texture combination here - jagged and weather rocks alongside plush greenery ...

I experimented with my Macro lens while exploring a forest in Sweden last summer.

But the real badge of honor goes to this Frankenstein - I've managed to keep this plant alive for almost a decade now.

I shot this in Albuquerque, NM. Seems like a lifetime ago.

This plant blooms on the grounds of the Milwaukee Art Museum in Milwaukee, WI.

Another image shot with my Macro - I love that you can see the veins on the delicate petals.

I'm looking forward to seeing this season's blooms!
