How to Live Your Best Life - Adjust Accordingly.

Let’s start by conducting a little experiment.

First, create a list of things and activities that make you happy, make you smile and bring you the most joy. My list includes things like exploring familiar and new places, taking pictures, reading, writing, and generally spending time with Nick and our kids. I further elaborated on that last item with “traveling,” because they are indeed my favorite expedition partners.

Then, create a list of things you do every day. Put your routine under a microscope. I wake up, get the kids ready for school, head off to work, pick up the kids, make dinner, clean up dinner, then waste time on social media. (Note: before this post was scheduled to publish, I’ve since deleted all but two of my social media accounts.) We have a DVR, and Nick and I do enjoy watching a few TV series together, but I admit there is also a lot of mindless TV time thrown in the mix too.

Now compare the two lists.

Why aren’t you doing more of what makes you happy? If you argue you don’t have time, then force yourself to audit how you currently spend your time.

Now adjust accordingly.

Was this activity as eye-opening for you as it was for me?

It’s a pretty simple notion, but one no one truly sees or grasps until it’s spelled out graphically in front of them.

Time is precious and life is short.

Adjust accordingly.
